William Moorhead (1877 – 1945)
Moorhead was born in Northern Ireland and working in the USA as an experimental electrical engineer who stumbled upon what he termed Electro levitation and, he thought, the means to create an antigravity machine.
Unable to fund anything beyond basic research he approached Nicola Tesla who found Moorhead to be a perfect candidate to head his proposed research centre. Moorhead’s primary function was to fully investigate the potential of his Electro levitation theories. The two men developed a professional bond that took the development of electro levitation forward at a quick pace.

Nikola Tesla (10 July 1856 – 7 January 1903)
Some changes to certain events, dates and outcomes made in order to fit the timeline:
Tesla’s life up to the point of the 1890 financial panic remains as per historic fact. On this timeline however there was no financial crisis, Barring Bank did not nearly collapse and Westinghouse went from strength to strength. With his $60,000 in cash and stock along with his commission on each AC horsepower motor produced, Tesla was a very wealthy man.
With this Tesla Industries was setup and, with the help of Moorhead in 1894, the Tesla research centre was formed with Moorhead as research director whose main function was to investigate the potential of Electro Levitation.

Samuel Benson Dogge (1875 to 1953)
He studied mechanical engineering and applied science becoming interested in the field of Electro Levitation. His first position was at the then Bristol and Colonial Aircraft Company Electrical Flight division where, under contract to the Royal Navy, they assembled, and tested the huge naval Field Generation Rings. Dogge rose quickly within the company submitting papers on advanced applications of the technology. At the beginning of the First World War he was invited to join a think tank at Farnborough during which time he built and tested what would become the Field coil Spool: The so-called artificial lift generator that would usher in a new age of aeronautics.

Admiral Jackie Fisher
Regarded as one of Britain’s finest Admirals. Admiral John (‘Jackie’) Fisher supported most new technological developments and was instrumental in pushing forward design studies for a new generation of battleship. Having been alerted to the success of the Flying Fish experiments undertaken in the Irish based Tesla research facility, he was keen to find out if such technology could be incorporated in to the new design he was championing.

Royal Navy Aerial Ship Dreadnought 
Dreadnought was  the first of her kind and ushered in a new age and, unfortunately, a global arms race.  Capital ships had always been the pride of a nation and a symbol of its fighting strength but overnight Dreadnought single-handedly made every other nations warships obsolete. It should be noted at this point that initially over 60% of the internal capacity of a ship of this generation was given over to power production. Internally the ships were more like flying power stations.

Electro Magnetic Field Effect on Mass (EMFEM)
The effect is upon the mass enveloped within the field and does not, without further conditioning or focusing equipment, cause any levitation and/or direction thrust of its own accord. A better term might be that of  weigh compensation as the object within the field becomes lighter in proportion to the field strength. However, Electro levitation passed into common usage as an all encompassing term for the effect and its lifting  potential.

Field Coil Spool / ELG
The field coil spool is the heart of Electrical lift generators (ELG) usually surrounded by heat dissipating fins and, in some cases,  water cooling jackets. The function of the spool is to create a pressure differential where by a low pressure area is created above the spool centre line. Later field coils incorporated incremental focusing of the field allowing additional directional  manoeuvrability as well as lift generation. Focusing and attitude adjustment was  controlled by means of mercury switches.
